Choosing cosmetology as a career requires an investment of both time and money.
To help students achieve their goals on any budget, the Academy offers a variety of tuition financing options. As a nationally accredited institution (NACCAS Reference # 030023-00), Robert Paul Academy is an eligible Federal Direct Student Loan program participant. In addition to Federal Direct Loans, PLUS Loans and Pell Grants, Senatorial Scholarships, private scholarships and Veterans benefits, State Grants & Scholarships may be used to help students more comfortably accommodate the cost of tuition. The Academy Financial Aid Team will provide a complete Financial Aid profile for all students who submit a FAFSA with the Academy school code (016833). This profile allows the student to enroll in school with full disclosure of their tuition obligations while in school and after graduation.

Complete Your FAFSA
Visit https://fsaid.ed.gov and apply for your FSA profile (if Dependent), a parent will also need to apply for a separate FSA profile. If you answer yes to ANY of the following conditions then you are an independent student. If you answer no to ALL of the conditions then you are considered a dependent student.
- Will you be 24 years old by January 1 of the school year for which you are applying for financial aid?
- Are you married or separated?
- Will you be working toward am advanced degree (M.A, MBA, M.D., J.D., Ph. D, Ed. D, etc.)?
- Do you have children who receive more than half of their support from you?
- Do you have dependents (other than children or spouse) who live with you and receive more than half of their support from you?
- Are you currently serving on active duty in the U.S, armed forces for purposes other than training?
- Are you a veteran of the U.S. armed forces?
- At any time since you turned age 13, were both of your parents deceased, were you in foster care, or were you a ward or dependent of the court?
- Are you an emancipated minor or are you in legal guardianship as determined by a court?
- Are you an unaccompanied youth who is homeless or self-supporting and at risk of being homeless?
Now that your FSA profile is created, visit www.fafsa.ed.gov to complete the FAFSA application using the academy’s school code (016833). If you have questions or need assistance please contact Bob in the academy’s financial aid department. Once your FAFSA has been submitted, it’s time to schedule an appointment with the academy to review your estimated financial award.
Once you have made the decision to enroll, access the https://www.studentloans.gov site to complete your Master Promissory Note (MPN) and Entrance Counseling.
Federal Direct Student Loans
Federal direct student loans are available to all students who have not declared bankruptcy, defaulted on an existing loan or who have not exceeded their student loan eligibility.
Federal Direct Student Loans awards are income based and require repayment. Payments begin 6 months after graduation or upon withdraw. Interest rates and terms are set according to Federal mandate. The average monthly payments for a student loan are very reasonable, making the Federal Direct Student Loan a great way to finance your education.
Parent Plus Loans
What is a parent plus loan?
Parent Plus loans are a means for parents to help their children more easily afford professional career training. PLUS loans go into repayment immediately and accrue interest according to Federal Education Loan guidelines. Parents can request as much or as little as is needed to assist their students with supplemental funding. PLUS loans are low interest education only loans.
About Pell Grants
Federal Pell Grants usually are awarded only to undergraduate students who display exceptional financial need and have not earned a bachelor’s, graduate, or professional degree. A Federal Pell Grant, unlike a loan, does not have to be repaid, except under certain circumstances.
State & Corporate Scholarships
About State & Corporate Scholarships
As an Accredited Institution, the Academy is eligible to accept, State, corporate and privately funded scholarships that have been awarded to students for higher education purposes. The Maryland Tolbert Grant is also available by selection to a limited amount of Pell eligible students enrolled in the program.
About VA Benefits
VA awards are service earned benefits that vary in dollar amount and distribution method. VA benefits are a gift and do not require repayment. Students using VA benefits to fund their education should meet with an Academy Admissions Officer to determine their level of eligibility.
